President Brewer called the meeting to order at 7:30am. Mark Nichols led the flag salute. Guests were: Art Ayres, Bruce Erlwein, Rich Erickson and Judith Morris. Edna moved and Stephanie seconded the minutes. Motion carried.
John presented new member Gayle Heisel with her membership certificate. John mentioned the letter of appreciation to Senator Jim Hargrove is on the website.
Kaj reviewed the Chamber Board meeting mentioning its possible backing of the Boys & Girls Club building project and of the Chamber’s new meeting format of one breakfast, one lunch and one after hours each month.
Edna inquired about the parking problem at the Marine Lab.
Edna, Young and Marc talked about the Chamber’s upcoming after hours on Thursday.
John introduced Mary Ellen Winborn, the County’s Community Development Director, the only one elected in the United States. Mary Ellen said after a little reorganization, such as taking code enforcement out of the Sheriff’s Department, the department concentrates on the Building Division, which handles permits and inspections, the Long Range Planning section, the Current Planning section, Code enforcement with such things as sewers, and wastewater, and the Community/Governmental collaboration section that focuses on marine sources and land use and buildings.
